I often get asked…

What if I’m not ready to let go of everything?

First, our goal is not for you to live in a cold, harsh home with no comforts or joy. The “all-or-nothing” method is not in alignment with my personal style. For me, letting go has been a process of learning “it’s okay” to live with less. That said, there will be no pressure to let go of everything, but we will work on “moving the needle”. This means, I’ll meet you where you’re at! That’s why I offer projects as small as the mini session, so you can test the waters of minimalism and feel the freedom for yourself.

What happens to the items I want to let go of?

First, it’s important to know our goal is to curate what we’re keeping. We should feel excited about what we have chosen to keep in our homes. When we think about the decluttering process in this way, it will feel easier to make a definitive decision regarding the items you’ve chosen to let go of.

For these items, either I can take them to the donation center (typically the Arc or Goodwill), or you can take the items yourself. If you take the items yourself, you’ll experience the fullness of letting go, and it’ll make your “decluttering muscles” that much stronger. I understand the convenience of me taking the items to the donation center on your behalf, though, so if you wish I’m happy to do so! Whatever will be best for you. I do not offer trash removal services, however.

You’ll make the decision on what you would like to keep, and let go of. There’s a middle ground for items that you’re not sure about. We’ll move these to a separate area of your house and at a set date, you’ll make a final decision on these items.

Do I have to be there, can you declutter for me?

Being a self-coined “Decluttering Coach” means I motivate, educate, and support individuals to declutter their homes. Working together means we’re in the same space, at the same time! It’s kind of like cardio, more fun to do with someone else, and the only way to get better…is to do it! It’s also part of the fun and enjoyment of doing this process with someone knowledgeable in this field of “letting go”. Plus, my hope is that through our time together, you’ll learn tips and tricks you can apply to other areas of your home, making coaching a more sustainable process.

What about organizing?

While it’s fun to organize and bring order to the chaos, my hope for you and your home is to experience life with less. Joshua Becker said, “You don’t need more space. You need less stuff.” Simply put, organizing is inherently easier when you have less to organize.

That said, if you have extra bins and organizing containers at home, we can spend a brief period of our remaining time together making your newly decluttered space more functional! Or you may wish to spend our time together purely learning decluttering techniques, and you can organize on your own at a later time.

Do I need a “Decluttering Coach”?

The short answer is, no. You absolutely can declutter on your own. My question for you is, how many times have you tried to declutter on your own, only to find in a few weeks or months that space is messy again and full to the brim? Or, how many times have you started to declutter, only to get side-tracked and then you’re left with piles around your house that stick around for a few weeks?

The longer answer is, it’s so much easier to declutter with a coach who can encourage you along the way, and can help you in your decision-making process. Decision fatigue sets in some times midway through and a coach can help you push through to project completion. We are also often attached to our belongings and this attachment can obscure what we know in our hearts. It can be hard to know if it’s truly time to let go of something, or maybe it needs to be moved to another area where it can truly be used and valued. Decluttering is hard work to do alone, and a decluttering coach can walk with you in the process to make it enjoyable and sustainable.

What are your service areas?

The Northwest & Denver Metro areas - Westminster, Broomfield, Arvada, Superior, Lafayette, Louisville, Golden, Boulder, Thornton, Denver, Central Park, and Wheatridge. If you’re outside of this area and interested in my services, email me and I  may have some flexibility!

What package is right for me?

You’re wondering, how do I know how much time I’ll need? The short answer is, it depends.

During our time together, we’ll get through as many items as we possibly can given your decisiveness and motivation. This may look like dedicating 2 or 4 hours to decluttering your kitchen island, and two cabinets. Or, we could get through your whole kitchen! For some, it may mean going through the junk drawer only. This is why it’s person-specific and flexible to your needs.

Most people will benefit greatest from the Small Package (4 hours of decluttering time with me). If you’re busy and can only dedicate 2 hours, then the Mini Session is perfect. If you’re unsure, we can start with the Mini Session and any additional time is billed at a flat rate of $100/hour.
